Fraser

Fraser JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Fraser by Susan May Warren, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Fraser Title: Fraser
Series: The Minnesota Marshalls #1
Author: Susan May Warren
Publisher: SDG Publishing
Release Date: February 14, 2023
Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

Fraser Marshall is pretty sure his career as a Spec Ops fighter is over. Yes, he’s gone into private security, working for Jones, Inc, but his last gig ended with him wounded and taken captive. And those wounds just won’t heal. The last thing he wants to do is stick around his family’s winery pressing grapes. But what choices does he have?

The answer comes via a panicked phone call from his kid brother, Creed.

Help, Fraser. I’m in over my head…

Yeah he is, because he’s run away with a princess, with her bodyguard hot on the trail. And said bodyguard, Pippa Butler is going to hunt them down, no matter the cost.

Even if she has to join forces with a bossy, arrogant former American SEAL. But Pippa has her own set of lethal skills, and if Fraser gets in the way, she’ll leave him on the side of the road. Still, maybe he’s not a terrible side-kick. He is handsome, and he makes her laugh…

No, no, bad Pippa! She has no room for a man—an American—in her life. And Fraser hasn’t ever considered slowing down. Even if Pippa has him wondering if there is a different future ahead.

But there’s more to the story than a Romeo-and-Juliet runaway romance. Princess Imani has seen a murder, and the perpetrator isn’t going to let her get away. Will Fraser and Pippa find the couple first?

And if they do, can they work together to keep them safe?

It’ll be tough if their hearts get in the way…

My thoughts: I enjoyed reading the adventures of the Montana Marshalls, so I was thrilled to see that the series had another branch off with Fraser kicking off the Minnesota Marshalls. The series starts off with a bang, when Fraser gets caught up with Princess Imani and her bodyguard, Pippa. I thought that the story was well written, full of suspense and adventure. While there are characters from the first series, this can be enjoyed as a stand alone.
I look forward to seeing where this series goes!

Her One in A Million

While renovating the MacKinnon mansion, Samantha Holt discovers three prized ceramics in a wall. The one in a million find could provide much needed funds for the restoration—and her family's struggling auction business. She calls a Chicago expert for a second opinion.

Zachary Reynolds arrives with his five-year-old daughter in tow, intending to leave with the vases immediately. Partly because the pottery won't reach its six-figure potential in a small-town sale, but mostly because the ceramics will secure his job in an impending merger with a larger firm—and he needs that guaranteed stability for his daughter.

Sam and Zach both need the pottery for very personal reasons, but only one can emerge victorious. As they research the history of the pieces and the mansion, however, the best choice isn’t clear-cut. Add in romantic feelings neither of them expected and things become even more complicated. With the odds stacked against them, can they both achieve the financial and personal success they crave?

My thoughts: I enjoyed returning to this series and the small town draw of Harmony. Reading about the mystery surrounding the vases was interesting, and I love the remodeling that takes place. My husband and I remodeled our old home, though we didn't find any real treasures in the walls.

I could relate to both of the characters, as they struggled to work together while having different plans for the vases. The author does a wonderful job of giving readers the chance to see each of the viewpoints. This is a wonderful continuation of the series!

If she escapes her past, can she survive the storm to come?

Maddie's California dream-turned-nightmare is a perfect storm of abuse, trafficking, and unwanted pregnancy. She sees only one way out, until a network of strangers offers a solution that could save her life and her baby's.

But escaping back to Minnesota hinges on Chris, the fiancĂ© she rejected for the drug dealer who now owns her. After all she's done, is it too much to hope Chris will perform this generous act of love?

And what if love isn't enough to protect Maddie when a deadlier storm closes in?

My thoughts: This is the first book that I have read by Karen Ingle and I must say, it is an excellent read! I thought that she did a wonderful job of writing about some difficult situations, with there being sex trafficking, unwanted pregnancy, and regrets on past choices. The characters are well written and it feels like you really get to know them as the story progresses. I really appreciated the message of hope found in this story.

The Meet Hate

If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it's that I’ll do anything to prevent some suit from walking onto my family farm and buying it from us.

Hayes may think he can show up at our home, fling a contract in my face, and I’ll drop to my knees and thank him for saving the day, but he’s got it all wrong.

Even if it means Hayes has to spend more time on the farm, sleeping in the bedroom next to me, and almost getting a limb cut off.

When I learn that Hayes needs his job to care for his nephew, I see a different side to the grumpy businessman and understand his motives. He may be the enemy, but soon I can’t deny the chemistry that sizzles between us.

But his boss gives him an ultimatum to finalize the sale or get fired, and I make the greatest sacrifice of my life and sign the contract so he can raise his nephew right. Even if it means losing the man I love.

Meet Hate is an enemies-to-lovers rom-com with crackling chemistry full of laughs and heart set on a dairy farm. All the tension without the explicit bits. It's the third book in the Meet Cute Series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Grab your copy of this swoony romance today!

My thoughts: I enjoyed this adorable enemies-to-something-more story! I could relate to Ellie and her struggles with her family's decision to sell their family farm. I have been in a similar situation with a family business, and it is hard to figure out how to change course or pivot with a business. I thought that she was a delightful, quirky character as she gets to know Hayes. This is a sweet, funny story with the added bonus of being on a farm and all the mishaps that can go with that. I highly recommend picking up this sweet romance.

My thoughts: This was such a cute story! I enjoyed the characters and getting to know them, as they struggle to see things from the other side and learn to work together. I could relate to Ellie struggling to let the farm go, since it's hard to see a dream have to change. The story was adorable and I loved the banter between Hayes and Ellie! Her inner monologue is a fun addition to the story. This is a sweet, fun read to pick up and enjoy!

Battling the Bluestocking

Great minds do NOT always think alike.
Phineas Donovan is possessed of a sharp intellect. Fresh from Cambridge, he obtains a generous live-in position as tutor for the son of the wealthy Lord Bettencourt. If he can prove his value, he has hopes of being given the patronage of his employer, allowing him to take up a position as vicar. There, he can pursue his intellectual endeavors in peace and relative financial comfort.

In her humble but informed opinion, Lady Sarah Danneville is possessed of an even sharper intellect. If anyone should be tutoring her younger brother, it is she, not the reserved, bespectacled gentleman her father has employed to do the job. He is not fit to instruct a Danneville of Bettencourt Court.

But as Sarah works to undermine him, Mr. Donovan shows more pluck than she expects, not to mention harboring a secret hobby that would be laughable if it weren’t so dreadfully unsophisticated. If she can use this secret against him, she can finally persuade her father she is more than bait to lure a prosperous match.

Now, if only she can avoid being drawn into the unsophistication—and Mr. Donovan’s eyes—herself.

My thoughts: I have adored this whole series, but this book might be my favorite of them all, since I could relate to Sarah and her bookish ways. This story brought up some interesting themes, with Sarah not really wanting to get married, since she is afraid that she won't be allowed to be herself in a marriage or might lose herself, as she feels she has seen with her parents. I love how she and her brother play a few pranks on Phineas, hoping to drive him away and give her the job to tutor her brother. The path is rarely smooth, or goes the way one wishes. This is a delightful story of what happens when everything goes off the rails and comes back together in a far more beautiful picture than one could have ever imagined. I highly recommend picking this book up, as well as the others in the series! While it can work as a stand alone, it is more fun to get to know the other siblings before diving into this story.

A Divine Romance

A Divine Romance JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for A Divine Romance by Ifueko Ogbomo, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

A Divine Romance Title: A Divine Romance
Author: Ifueko Ogbomo
Publisher: InspiroLogos Publishing
Release Date: February 14, 2023
Genre: Historical Romance Biblical Fiction

Hers is the flawless face no man has seen—except her father.

His is the foreign face everyone reveres—save his family.

The royal decree that couples this unlikely pair will make or break the history of an ancient empire.

Considered a gift from the sun god due to her arresting eyes, Asenath was veiled in childhood and destined to marry Egyptian royalty. The 17-year-old is resigned to a loveless future in the royal harem, when Pharaoh’s shocking declaration forces her to marry the new vizier of Egypt—a mystical foreigner with powers of divination.

Known as Zaphnath-Paaneah, her husband turns out to be handsome, charming, and possibly insane since he worships an invisible god and expects her—the daughter of a high priest—to do the same. Facing a fate seemingly worse than that she grew up dreading, she desperately searches for a way out of the arranged marriage. The secrets she uncovers usher her into a world of intrigue and treachery that questions all her beliefs about men, gods, and love. Will theirs be the most monumental mismatch made in Egyptian history, or will her daring demand for a sign from his god make all her childhood fantasies come true?

Combining original poetry with well-researched history, A Divine Romance is an Own Voices retelling of a beloved Biblical tale that takes readers on a riveting journey through Ancient Egypt and introduces them to a fresh, poetic voice in Christian fiction.

“In a writing style reminiscent of Tessa Afshar, Ifueko Ogbomo spins a breathtaking tale readers won’t be able to put down!”

~ Heidi Chiavaroli, Carol Award-winning author of The Orchard House and Hope Beyond the Waves

“A Divine Romance that will resonate in our hearts well past the last page.” ~ Toni Shiloh, Christy Award-winning author of In Search of a Prince

“Gifted storytelling brings an intricate cast of characters to life and portrays the greatest kind of love there is . . ." ~ Jenna Van Mourik, author of Jerusalem’s Daughter

My thoughts: I enjoyed reading this unique, richly detailed work of Biblical fiction. I enjoy seeing the stories of the Bible in a new light, and loved how this tale made me think more about a woman that is only mentioned in passing. I never thought about how hard it would be to marry a stranger from a strange land, with very different customs and a religion that is totally different from what you are used to. The author does a wonderful job of exploring the what if's of the story and really brining the characters to life. This is an excellent book to pick up and enjoy!

My thoughts: I enjoyed this story and the wide array of characters! Lisa Phillips does a wonderful job of bringing them to life, with their different strengths and weaknesses. I felt for Pepper, with trying to do the best for her sister and niece, while also trying to survive the harsh criticism of the town. I felt like Allen should have been more forthcoming with the events surrounding their breakup, though I can see how that might not have been on his mind at the time.
This is a wonderful, high suspense read that is hard to put down! It's well written and very driven. I look forward to reading the other books in the series!
