Take ten: books that have been on my TBR list the longest that I still have yet to read

I don't know that these have been on my TBR list the longest, but they have been on there for quite a while now!

1. The Book Thief

I really need to read this one, since I have held off seeing the movie until I read it.

2. Code Name Verity

Not only has this one been in my TBR pile, but I also borrowed it from my aunt, so I really should read it and give it back.

3. The Question of God

I keep meaning to make time for this one!

4. Kisses from Katie

Another one that I borrowed. Or, rather, it was lent to me. I need to say no when people offer to lend me books, since then I have them forever....

5. Blue Moon Bay

I've enjoyed all the books I have read by Lisa (she does a wonderful job of bringing social issues into her stories), but have yet to make the time for most of her earlier stories.

6. Lady of Milkweed Manor

Another author I almost always enjoy is Julie Klassen. I've been told that I am missing out by not reading her first few books!

7. The Apothecary's Daughter

This is one I even have on my kindle.

8. Among the Mad

I enjoyed the first 4-5 Maisie Dobbs books, but haven't kept up on them. I didn't even realize there were 14 now!

9. Ballet Shoes

I meant to read this when I was younger. I'm hopeful that it will be one I read aloud to the kids.

10.The Giver

Not only did I miss this book when I was younger, but I missed that there was more than just The Giver! I did give in and watch the movie, but now I need to read the series.

Whew, this makes me want to pull these books out and actually get them off my TBR pile! How about you? What books have you been meaning to read forever ago?

  1. I read The Giver back when the film came to DVD, and like it OK, but didn't love it. That said, I also rushed myself through reading it since I'd rented the film and wanted to finish the book before watching the film. So, yeah. That MIGHT have contributed. :D

    1. lol, I was curious how it will compare to the film, especially since I saw it first, when I normally read a book before going to watch the movie based on it.

  5. I didn't include Code Name Verity on my list but it HAS been sitting on my shelf for so long now along with Rose Under Fire. I really want to get to them this year but I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared!

  7. Last year I FINALLY read The Book Thief and in my opinion, it was worth all the hype. I loved the story and the unique narrator. I am in a historical fiction kick lately, so hopefully I`ll get to Code Name Verity this year. Good luck with your reading!

  9. I remember "The Giver". That is the first book in high school from the reading list in 12 grade that I couldn't put down. I read it straight through. Since then there is other books that I read in one sit-in. Thanks 4 sharing.
