I am totally cheating this week, and just coming up with the top five of my favorite historical settings for stories, since I don't want to bore you all.;)
1. American Pioneer era
This started when I a new reader and devoured the Little House series. Not only did the series jump start my love of reading, it also gave me a love for the pioneer days. Ah, the thrill of adventure that seemed to go with heading west.;)
2. WWII
Such a sad time in the history of the world, but so many amazing people stepped up to the challenging time. Historical fiction set in this time makes one think of how they would of reacted to those times.
3. The Salem Witch Trials
I'm not morbid, I promise. Part of me is fascinated by this time because it was so insane and I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that a couple of young girls caused death and havoc. Why was everyone swept up in the madness?
4. Victorian England
Such an opulent time filled with so many changes.
5. New Testament times
I love well written fiction that fills in the gaps in a story briefly mentioned in the scriptures. Like Tessa Afshar's newest novel.
What are your favorite eras to read about?
I have a lot of WWII books on my list this week too. I really enjoy reading about that period of time.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out your list, since I am always looking for more books to add to my TBR list.;)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
You've picked so many amazing historical settings! I'd love to read more books set in a lot of these times too. I didn't even think if the Salem Witch trials, but that would be amazing. I would LOVE to read more books set during that time.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT post if you want to check it out.
I love historical fiction! In all honesty, it wouldn't of taken me all that much more work to come up with the other five...;)
DeleteSo many great books set during WWII! I haven't read anything about The Salem Witch Trials, but I'd be interested to.
