My thoughts: This book was hard to put down! I enjoyed reading the story of Vera, a young "Canary"-nightclub singer with a shadowy past. When she witnesses a crime at the nightclub she works at, she is thrust into the difficult position of sole witness. At a time when a lot of police and officials are paid to look the other way, she is unsure who to trust.
I enjoyed this historical novel! The characters are well written and I thought that the story line was unique. I never really thought what it might of been like to be put into a difficult position like the one that Vera is in. This is a wonderful story to pick up and enjoy!
