Take ten: books I loved but don't remember much about
1. Heirs of Cahira O'Connor
I remember finding the story fascinating, but all I remember now is that each woman in the ancestry line (at least the ones who were main characters) had a white streak in their hair.;)
2. A Gown of Spanish Lace
Another one I remember loving, since there is a bit of a mystery surrounding the dress. I don't remember a lot outside of that...
3. Dreams in the Golden Country
I remember thinking the main character had some spunk and that this one was one of my very favorites out of the Dear America stories.
4. Little House in the Big Woods
This is one of the first series I ever read, so it has been over 20 years since I picked it up... (that makes me sound so old!)
5. Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie
The one thing I remember from this story? Don't trust "wild carrots", since it could be hemlock.
6. The Betsy and Tacy books
7. Encyclopedia Brown
I loved these as a kid, so it would be good to pick them up again to read with the kids!
8. Emma
Yes, I know the story, but I feel like it has been so long since I read it that I sometimes forget where the movie may have added some lines.;)
9. War and Peace
So many names...
10. Right Where I Belong
Super cute, from what I remember...

Aw, I read all of those Janette Oke - including 'Spanish Lace' - books YEARS ago. From what I remember of them, they were all sweet and lovely reads, and at the time, among my most favorite books. Oh the memories! :)
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of them too in the teen years.;) It has been ages since I last picked one of her books up, though I have fond memories of how sweet the stories were.
DeleteI haven't read any of these books. It's such a struggle to remember all that we read when we read so much!
ReplyDeleteIt is! I might need to slow down and savor more.;)
DeleteMy husband just read Little House in the Big Woods aloud to the family and it was like I'd never heard it before even though I know I read it when I was six. I also love Betsy-Tacy. I only read the first few as a kid, but loved the later ones as an adult.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to read them as a family here soon, though my son is a bit young to appreciate them.:)
DeleteI need to pick the Betsy and Tacy books up again.
I haven't read any of these. I guess, we humans have a limited brain to store all the books information :P
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to re-read a few of them soon :P

I wish I had more room to store everything!;)
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Your summary of War and Peace cracks me up. That's pretty much how I feel about all the Russian classics I've read. There's so many names and they're all so similar! I reread Little House in the Big Woods about 5 years ago or so and was surprised about how simple of a story it was. It's an interesting reread if you loved it as a kid.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't help that it seemed like they all have to have nicknames too....:P I don't have the energy to keep track of all the characters now.;)
DeleteI look forward to re-reading the Little House books!
Aw, I loved the Little House books, but haven't read them since I was in junior high, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!
It sounds like you are due to re-read them again then.;)
DeleteLittle House in the Big Woods - lot more than 20 years ago for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd it's been a long time since I read Emma as well.
I seriously need to re-read them! At least I have the excuse of reading the Little House books with my kids.;)
