My thoughts: I was thrilled to see that Lawana Blackwell had a new title coming out this year, since I adored her novels when I was in high school. There was a part of me that was a bit worried that perhaps my taste in books had changed over the years or that this novel would be drastically different from her other titles, but I need not have feared, since this story is excellent! The characters and time period come to life and weave a beautiful story about a mother and daughter forced to reconnect and settle into a small town. I love how there are secondary characters who have interesting stories as well. This is a new favorite! I sincerely hope that we won't have to wait as long for her next book as we did for this one.;)
