Sometimes blessings come through raindrops

It rained this weekend. Which, we were in a drought, so the rain was a blessing. It brought to light just how much I think the world revolves around me though. This is always the biggest weekend at market, so I was a tad bit sad that it rained and kept the crowds away. Don't get me wrong: I know we needed the rain, and I was thankful for it, but part of me was discouraged it finally came on Saturday.
Isn't that how we can be though? We get to thinking that something isn't an answer to our prayers because it didn't turn out the way we thought it would. How could a house be the place we are suppose to be when there is so much work to be done? Or where is the blessing in car trouble? And yet, we don't see how God is working behind the scenes. That the "terrible" house is paid off in no time and winds up being a great project for a couple to work on together. Or, that the car problems kept one from getting in an accident.
Next time you pray, think about adding "Thy will be done", since He really does have the best interest of everyone at heart.

Blessings
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

  1. Very good points, Amanda. Even now as I am dealing with some health type things and other "problems"...it is all in my perspective. God can use each thing for my good or I can choose to look on it in a negative light. I choose to learn, to allow it to cause me to lean more on Him and become anchored deep only in Him and not cirucumstances.

    1. Well said!
I should of added that I am really a big baby, since I haven't even gone through anything really big and trying, since I know the song was written around the time her husband struggled with cancer.

  2. We need some rain here... with all the fires going on especially!
That's my favorite Laura Story song :)
God answers prayers and provided insight in mysterious ways; I'm discovering that this week!
But He always answers ouru prayers... either yes, no or "wait". :)
This year, it's been a lot of "Yes's" for me but also some "wait, my child" answers too. He is always good and faithful. I love how black and white God can be; He doesn't have to be a mystery! :)

  3. I'm praying you all receive the rain you need! We have been blessed to get quite a bit of rain lately, though we are still quite a bit behind on what we need for the year up to this point. I don't like cold, snowy winters, but we sure need one this year!
It's my favorite too.;) She captured blessings perfectly!
His ways are mysterious. How have your prayers been answered lately?
Good point! If we went to the Lord more, things would probably be less of a mystery.
