Here is my list of top ten books that I consider to be hidden gems. Some of them were self published, so I can see why they flew under the radar, since they didn't have a big publishing house to back them. That doesn't make them any less wonderful.;)
As usual, if you are interested in learning more about the book, click the image to go to Amazon. This post contains affiliate links, so thank you for supporting my book habit.;)
1. The Giftsnatcher
I've talked about this one before, since it was such a surprisingly amazing read. Charity writes wonderful books, but I was surprised by just how much I loved the story, despite it being different from my usual fare. It's an amazing combination of historical (Jack the Ripper), magical, and scintillating conversation. I can't recommend it enough!
2. Then There Was You
I was surprised just how much I could relate to Paige and her, well, cynicism. I adored the characters!
3. Olivia Twist
I'm just finishing up this one, which may be a small part of why it's on my list (since it's fresh in my mind. lol). I've enjoyed the twist (grin) on the classic. I'm enjoying it tremendously!
4. It Started With Goodbye
I feel like I have talked a lot about this book, but haven't seen too much about it elsewhere. I loved this re-telling of Cinderella and can't wait to get my hands on the other books by this author!
5. Close to You
This is the first one I picked up by Kara, since it was one that caught my interest on Netgalley. I love that it is set in Hobbiton!
6. The Story Peddler
This one is an amazing start to a new fantasy series! More people need to read it and love it. lol.
7. Blue Justice
I've enjoyed Lynette's other series, but nothing like how I am loving this one!
8. The Illusionist's Apprentice
This one took me a while to pick up, but was so worth it! I felt like it took me back to my childhood, since I went through a fascination with Houdini.;)
9. Engaged in Trouble
This one is an adorable mystery!
10. Stratagem
This was an amazing psychological mystery that involved an elaborate escape room.
So, what books are on your lists this week? Have you read some of the books on my list?
I still have to read more by Kara; "Close to You" is lovely, and of course CHARITY's books, too. Also, "Olivia Twist" is a fun little historical. :)
ReplyDeleteYou do need to read more of Close to You!
DeleteI thought that Olivia Twist was wonderful, with some surprising twists there at the end.;)
I love Kara's books! I also really loved The Illusionist's Apprentice!
ReplyDeleteHave you ordered the new books by Kara that are coming out? I actually preordered All Made Up, since it was just 3.99.;) https://amzn.to/2NxGsUF
Delete"Olivia Twist" sounds super cute! I've only seem the film version of the original, but a fun female take on it would be great!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun change to the story! I highly recommend it, having just finished it today.
DeleteOlivia Twist does sound interesting-despite the fact that I hated the original!

I wasn't a huge fan of the original either, but this one wound up being a lot of fun.
