My thoughts: Rand and Katie have quite a past, with her having played a part in the prank that cost Rand his dreams of being in rodeos. When she comes back into his life through his work, he has a hard time believing that she has changed. When a difficult situation leaves them relying on one another to make it out of the mountains alive, Rand has the chance to hold on to his anger or learn to forgive, before the illegal miners catch up to them.
The suspense was spot on with this story! I loved the plot twists that took place, as this unlikely pair had to figure out how to stay ahead of the criminals. I can only imagine how hard it would be to have to forgive someone who had a part in destroying your dreams, but I thought that the author did a wonderful job of weaving a deeper message into the story. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, I highly recommend picking this one up!
