Take Ten: Series I may never find the time to finish

I really prefer to read books where the whole series is out, since then it is easier to read the whole set close together. I admit that if too much time lapses between books that I forget how much I enjoyed the previous book and forget to finish the series. There exceptions of course, like when I review for a publisher and get the chance to review the next installment in a series. So, these are the series that I may return to someday, or may not.

1. Divergent

I read the first one and wasn't absolutely crazy about it, so I haven't taken the time to read the rest of the books. My husband tells me they are vastly different from the movies, which makes me curious, but I haven't take the time to pick these up again.

2. A Court of Thorns and Roses

I liked the idea of this series, but it's probably one I will never finish, since I'm picky on wanting my reads to be clean.

3. The Katie Parker Production

I like this one, but only have the first two books on my kindle. I may have to bite the bullet and pay for the 3rd and 4th books.;)

4. The Inheritance

The first one was a bit dry, so it has been hard to find time to finish this one.

5. Angel Harp

Honestly, I was rooting for the under dog and don't know how I feel about his losing out to someone richer.

6. Redemption Series

I may never return to her books, since they weren't really my style.

7. If I Run

While I enjoyed the first one, I'm not a huge fan of a major suspense/mystery being dragged out over three books. I did like that there were two mysteries and one was solved. I may eventually pick the other two up.

8. Welcome to Last Chance

I would like to pick this one up again!

9.
I read the 2nd and 3rd books, which were excellent, and felt like I got bits of the first series, so I haven't picked it up. Someday, perhaps. The author did a wonderful job with the other two!

10. A Loyal Heart

I loved the previous books in this series, I just have to find the time to read this one!

So, that is my list for the week. What books should I give another chance to?

  1. I haven't read any of the Divergent books, but I've seen the films, and feel like they're much "happier" than any story the book can tell. Plus, I hear the book doesn't end well.

I have Sarah's books on my list today as well. They no longer seem like "me" reads.

    Happy Top Ten Tuesday, Amanda.

    1. I still need to see the rest of the movies for Divergent.
Perhaps hearing that the series didn't end well made me all the more not interesting in finishing it....
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I don't think I'll read anything else from Sarah J Maas anymore. I grew out of love with her writing. Great list! My TTT

  3. I loved Divergent, LOL. I've read it in three languages (and also own it in Russian, but haven't read it in Russian yet). The only part I hated was chapter 50 of Allegiant and the following chapters that build on it.

I haven't read the other ones yet.

  4. Yes to Divergent, most definitely yes to ACOTAR. Divergent was such a disappointment, especially from the second half of the second book and I just didn't even bother finishing the third one. As for ACOTAR...I haven't yet finished the third book, but while I might push through and read it, I won't be continuing this series.

I don't know about the other books, but I am definitely checking out a few, especially The Katie Parker Production.

  6. I finished Divergent and I found it to be incredibly disappointing, so I don't blame you for not wanting to finish it. I've been seeing ACOTAR on a lot of people's lists this week! Great list.

  7. As much as I enjoyed the Divergent series, the end of Allegiant ruined it all for me. So yeah, I won't push you on that one!

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed them, with the exception of a small part of it!

  8. The Divergent books are WAY different than the movies. The movies are more like fanfiction... that get innocuous details wrong... they don't even give Tris the right tattoos.

I like the series, up until Chapter 50 in Allegiant.

    1. Good to know! My hubby did read the first and second one, so he was telling me some of the differences. We haven't watched Allegiant...
