Take Ten: literary characters that I just can't click with
1. Draco
Just no. He's annoying and horrible, though he did have some redeeming moments.
2. Tris
I wasn't a fan of her when I read some of the books, but I especially didn't care for how Shailene Woodley portrayed her in the movies.
3. Bella Swan
I just can't abide insipid main characters.
4. Heathcliff
5. Catherine
While I love the other Bronte sisters stories, the characters in this one just do not set well with me.
6. Scarlett O'Hara
She's a horrible brat who doesn't care who she hurts in her quest to get what she wants out of life.
7. Anna Karenina
Another unbelievably selfish heroine.
8. Christian
9. Anastasia
I didn't have to read this one to know that this is another horrible couple whom I can't stand. I think this book is degrading to women.
10. Bathsheba
It's been a while since I read this one, but I remember thinking that she didn't deserve her man.;)
What characters do you have a hard time seeing in a favorable light? Or, are there characters you love that no one else seems to?:)
I agree about Draco! I read Harry Potter kind of late so I'd seen like a LOT of fanart and tumblr posts all flailing over him...so I thought he redeemed himself in the finale or something? BUT NOPE. D:
ReplyDelete*whispers* I also am not a fan of Shailene Woodley as Tris. Like I liked Tris okay??? But the movies just...nope.
Here's my TTT!
That probably does have something to do with it, since I got into Harry Potter late as well.;) I guess some people just like to root for the bad boy.
DeleteGlad I'm not the only one!
YES FOR BELLA! I hated the movies, and surprisingly the books were no better! She was too whiny, and it was all wrong.

She needed something redeeming about her.;)
DeleteI couldn't like Draco either. He was so selfish and mean.
ReplyDeleteTris and Christian have also secured their position on my list.

He was! It's great he had somewhat of a conscience, for his family, but it wasn't enough to make me really like him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
oh my goodness, yes! I agree with you on ALL of these! My TTT
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your list!
DeleteGreat list :) I can't understand anyone who actually likes Cathy or Heathcliff!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Now that you mention it, I have heard people gush about the book, but I don't know that most people love the characters...
DeleteTris was on my list this week too.

I will have to look and see who else made it on your list. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI don't know too many Draco fans except for those who love to hate him. Other than Twilight and Divergent, I haven't read any of the others that you mentioned.

Also, I have a giveaway going on for my 5th Blogoversary.
I must just have some interesting friends then.;)
DeleteI haven't read Divergent but do like Movie Tris. :)
ReplyDeleteAgain, haven't read the book, but the most recent adaptation of "Madding Crowd" is better with Bathsheba being a MORE likable character. From what I remember of the 90s adaptation, Carey Mulligan makes her more likable by a long shot. Fun list, Amanda! :)
I need to see the new Maddening Crowd, since I do like the story.;)
DeleteBoth Catherine and Heathcliffe are horrible characters but I was still fascinated by the story. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT.
I still love the moors and want to see them someday, but I am not a fan of the main characters in the story.;)
