My thoughts: I have enjoyed the other historical series that Barbour publishing has, so I was thrilled to see this on coming out. I didn’t know the history behind this story, with the major fire, so it was interesting to read details about it. Rhonda Dragomir does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, Evelyn with her healing grieving heart and Hank with his needing to face the past, and the future. I love the themes woven throughout the story, especially that of trusting God through the hard times. I could so relate to the struggles the characters are going through. This is a wonderful book to pick up! I personally look forward to reading more of the series.

My thoughts: I have enjoyed the previous books in this series and looked forward to the return to Sedgewick County! This story can stand alone, though there are some mentions of the characters from the previous two books. 
I love how the violin plays a part in both of the time lines! With being married to a violinist (and, all of my children playing the violin) I can appreciate the care and repairs that the violin goes through. I love how the author used it to tie together the two time lines.

The story is well written, with plenty going on between the two main characters, the one in the past and the one in the present. I thought that the author did a wonderful job of tackling some difficult subjects with grace. This is a wonderful addition to the series!

My thoughts: This is such a fun, historical read! I enjoyed getting to know Willow and Caleb, as their friendship grew and they both left for the new world and a better life. It was so sweet of Caleb to follow Willow, under the guise of protecting her! I loved reading their story and the themes that are woven throughout the romance. Both Caleb and Willow discover more about themselves as the new world reveals hidden truths about each of them. I especially appreciated how Willow grows as a character. I could relate to her reliance on others and lack of faith in herself. This is a delightful book to pick up and enjoy!

My thoughts: I love how this story was set up, with the story starting with Rachel and Jordan meeting in Kindergarten and following them as they grew up. The two make promises to one another along the way, and support each other through some difficult seasons as they go through school. When the chance to pursue their different dreams comes up, they go their separate ways. 

I love how the story progressed! I love reading friends to something more romances, since that is what my own is. The author does a wonderful job of weaving the story through the highs and lows of the school years and starting a new career. This is such a sweet story! I look forward to reading more from the author.

“Chuck will find him.” He had to. Chad strode to the table and began stacking the paintings.

“Don’t bother. Matt’s behind this mess. Besides, we’ll figure out where he has Basin before his

fingerprints are processed.”

Sophie ambled over to one of her wooden easels that lay splintered on the brown carpet. “When I

left, this canvas . . . was on the . . .” She pointed to the easel. “It was yellow with

brilliant blues and purples . . .” She hiccupped a sob.

The owl painting now lay crumpled on the floor, a dirty footprint across the top. She picked up

the piece and traced the rough gash puncturing its heart.
